Yay, I now have a personal altar to Hekate in my bedroom!

Interestingly, the only space available was right next to my door--and Hermes' is on the other side. My temple room is set up the same way.

They're both in the most appropriate place. :)

(and why do I have Gatekeeper and Keymaster jokes running in my head?)

I've been bad. My only altar is a bunch of flowers I try to keep fresh. I want to do more, but it isn't my house--and I don't wanna be rude.

I wouldn't call that bad--I'd call that making do.

When I lived with my parents I couldn't have an altar. I had lots of candles and incense and that's all I could manage. Anything that looked vaguely witchy would get me into trouble with my mom.

I just am now allowed candles and incense again.

You want bad? I burned a hole in my carpet.

Oh, I've done that! Lit charcoal on the really nice Greek key rug that I got for my temple room. Gah. A couple of small burnt places where it rolled. Eep.

I'm similarly making-do with the appropriate floral arrangement and maybe some icons. Maybe if I can afford some statuary before I move in, I'll do so, but I'm rather doubting it's going to be significantly expanded before I move anyway.

I need to get frames. I have some beautiful vintage prints that call out to me. I'm just poor.

I'm lucky enough to have my own place and have done so since I got out of college. Not everyone is so lucky...

Hekate...one of the more misunderstood deities. We had ritual last saturday for Hekate and Dionysos. It was awesome. I still have to clean up the offerings down in our ritual space.....which brings up an interesting point....what do others do with offerings that are left...like food, etc.

I take a page from Santeria and Vodoun practitioners and just dispose of it in a separate trash receptacle or bag. As long as it's done with respect and mindfully, all is well.

Thats what I end up doing....or since I live near a wild area...if its appropriate...I leave it for the wildlife. An apple can be quite a treat for a deer to stumble across.

Its funny....we arent traditionalists in any way...this time our food offering waws chocolate dipped macaroons. I dont think the deer will like those....so they will get offered up to the holy trash receptacle.

I offer what I eat. So if I'm eating some crazy tofu vegan meal, that gets offered. lol

Because you have Hermes and Hekate in your head, and they can both be Very Silly. ^_^

Whatever you do, don't think of the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man.
